Mary,
My husband and I along with our ten-year old daughter and her friend enjoyed your show Sunday night in Rosemary Beach, fla. It was the last show we saw at the the 30a Songwriters' Festival and the only one on my personal "must" list.

I've been wearing out 'Daylight and Dark' and 'Mercy Now' for the past few years and just heard 'The Foundling' for the first time last week and I look forward to listening to it without distraction.

I'm a real fan of lyrics and you really write some good ones. I keep finding new meanings for me in your words and look forward to stumbling into those jewels. My current favorite of a clever lyric is "it was all for the love of a wayward girl who left you with a second-place smile and a broken heart": How evocative.

We took our little girl and her friend to several shows throughout the festival. They endured the crowds, over-amplification, and their unfamiliarity with most of the music. It was the last night and we were heading out to see your show. I wasn't sure about the venue: how early we would need to be there, whether it would be crowded, whether we would be able to get something to eat, etc... We were getting our strategy worked out and the boredom or irritation was beginning to rumble in my daughter's friend. Our child reassured her friend: "Oh this is going to be nothing like the other shows we've seen. Mary Gauthier is great. Her songs are so sad and depressing! I love them!" I was so proud!

We all enjoyed the show and look forward to all your creations.

You are a real, authentic person and gifted artist! Thanks so much for the art.

You're on my list with Bob Dylan, Willie, Kris, Lucinda, John Prine, Bruce and the real people doing real songs.

Thank you!

i'm a 64 year young disc jockey from southeast michigan. i spent 40 years in country and pop radio and run a one person very successful mobile dj firm. been in music since 1967. Mary's Mercy Now touched me in a way no singer or song has done in a long time. her vulnerability and intensity is hank williams waylon jennings johnny cash patsy cline scary good.
wish there was something i could do to get that song on commercial radio. her bio touched my heart as i come from an alcoholic disfunctional childhood. i'm going to play mercy now every chance i get. this lady is DIFFERENT. Respectfully, Dan "The Godfather" McPhail, Burton MI

Saw Mary and Tania Elizabeth tonight at the Lovin' Cup in Rochester. What a wonderful concert. The two musicians blend so well together. Two humble performers and an appreciative crowd made for a great concert. This a what music is all about.

Watched your bio on your website last night. I have heard your songs on Sirius radio, and have been trying to figure out how to spell your name. Who knew that is how you spell Mary? Any way , I admire your work alot. I have been a song writer for 30 yrs. , and draw inspiration from Guy Clark , Jerry Jeff and Billy Joe Shaver. And now you. I watched your clip on It Gets Better. It was wonderful for you to do that. I was bullied alot also. Not sure why. I'm not gay , but it seemed as though every one wanted to kick my ass. It was bad , and it influenced my early poor choices.
Promiscuity to secure my man hood led to a couple of early marriages that failed. I found solace and comfort in the Austin songwriter scene in the early 80's. I was the guy in the back of the bar hanging on every painful word coming from the performer no one seemed to be listening to. This led to life long friendships with very gifted writers who changed my life. None of them wanted to kick my ass. I'm glad I found you.

Thank you so much. You have brought back that feeling I got when I first heard Mason Profit, Bob Dylan, James Taylor the list seems to be endless. I have been waiting for an artist that forces me to think not only in the cerebral aspect but opening my emotions as well. We all take trips down memory lane but how many of us remember the part that emotions played in our decision of which path to take? For some, this could bring back the pain of the time but lucky for me I just relish the memory and all that comes with them.

Thank You

Hai, I enjoyed your last concert in amsterdam together with my wife and daughter so much that I did want to thank you with all my heart. Listening to your songs now has a complete new dimension to it, having seen you so lively!!
I appreciate the wonderful combination of energy and subtlety, heart felt music, very down to earth.
Listening to Karla Faye, I allways heard: you find mercy inside... you sing: you find mercy in the sky!
If ever you might read this message I would be very happy to hear what you feel when you talk about mercy in the sky.
Thanks a lot again, be well Gem

I like you so much, sometimes even feel love. I am a little older then you, and I am a good mother. I mean, I have really tried to be one - and my now young adult children say they think I am right. My childhood was Ok, but my mother was not really a good one. My childhood learned me what a lonesome childs sufferings and worries can be. And I love and love and love yous songs! hope you will come to Sweden some day.
I rae about your music in a bid swedish newspaper - my son the downloaded The Foundling illegally as a present to me (hehe!), and then (after listening) I have legally bought several of your cd.

Once again, so happy to see you at the Edmonton Folk Fest! I have been a grateful fan ever since the first time I took in your performance at the EFMF a few years back. Thank you, Mary, for your amazing music and your honesty!

As a birth mother who recently connected with her 39 year old son, I have glimpsed the despair of not knowing whateverhappened to the child I so long ago created with all the love I could find in my heart.

Your work is important and I wish you all good things!
